2018-19 Athletic Training Welcome

Hello,
We would like to introduce ourselves and provide a bit of information regarding the Athletic Training Room.
My name is Sue Tymkew and I am the Head Athletic Trainer at Chaparral.  I’ve been here for several years and feel honored to be a part of such a wonderful school and sports programs.

Matt Fredrick is the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Chaparral.  He is also thrilled to be here at Chap and looks forward to working with your student-athletes in their injury care.

First and foremost:  Our top priority is the health and safety of the athletes.

We are here to provide the best possible medical care and coverage for practices and games.  Our intent is not to be a replacement for your physician, rather a liaison. We ask that your student-athlete sees one of us in a non-emergent situation to assist them in prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries that may arise.  Coaches are updated on their progress and return to play along with communication with you.

If a situation is deemed urgent or physician worthy then you will be contacted immediately for referral.  We will then follow any instructions from the physician on their safe return to play. Of course you may take your son or daughter to a health care provider at any time.  We just want to make you aware of our services. If a medical provider removes your student-athlete from activity, they MUST provide a written note of the date they may return and at what level of activity is allowed.  This ensures their safety and compliance with the orders of the medical provider.

Our normal hours of operation are from 2:52 to 6 pm, Monday through Friday during regular school operation days.  If there are games that go after regular closing time, one of us will be on site. We may however be on “fields” and the room may not be open.
Saturday - open for game coverage only.
Sunday - closed.

Please see the attached reference guides for concussions, hydration and hygiene.

The health and safety of your student-athlete is multi-faceted.  It is the athlete, parent/guardian, coaches, athletic trainers and the medical providers working together to make this happen.  We appreciate your understanding and support with this.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Matt or myself.  We look forward to safe, injury free seasons for all of your student-athletes. And winning is the bonus!

Sincerely,

Sue & Matt
